Privacy policy

How we handle your information.

We collect only what we need to deliver our programs, never sell personal data, and follow Florida nonprofit standards plus US federal privacy regulations.

Last updated: May 9, 2026

What we collect

When you contact us, sign up for a program, or subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the information you choose to share — typically name, email, phone, and a description of how we can help.

When you browse web.selfacademyfl.org, we collect basic technical information automatically: pages visited, IP address, browser type, and timestamps. This is the minimum needed to operate the site and detect abuse.

If you create a visitor account

When you register for an event and choose to also create an account ("Register & sign me up"), we collect your name, email address, and a password. Your password is never stored in readable form — we store only a one-way cryptographic hash of it, so even we cannot see your actual password.

We record the IP address of the device used to sign up or sign in, in a pseudonymized (hashed, not raw) form, solely to detect and rate-limit abusive automated sign-up attempts.

While you are signed in, we issue a session token stored as a cookie in your browser, so you don't have to sign in again on every visit. Session tokens expire automatically and are deleted the moment you sign out or delete your account.

You can permanently delete your visitor account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your login credentials and session immediately; it does not delete your event registration history, which we keep as our own attendance record, unlinked from your account.

How we use it

We use your information only to deliver our programs, respond to your questions, send you the newsletter you requested, and report aggregate (anonymous) statistics about who we serve.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Period.

Who sees it

We disclose information to law enforcement only when legally compelled to do so.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time: what data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to receive a copy in a portable format, or to stop using it. Email admin@fscoalition.org and we'll respond within 30 days.

Florida residents enjoy additional rights under the Florida Information Protection Act (FIPA). Children under 13: we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors without verifiable parental consent (COPPA).

Cookies & tracking

We use a minimal set of cookies: a session cookie required for the site to work, and a language preference cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) to remember your EN/ES selection.

We use Google services to enhance your experience, which includes IP-based tracking to help us understand location-based data and improve our services. You can opt out via your browser settings or extensions.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The Last updated date at the top reflects the most recent revision. We will notify newsletter subscribers about any material change.
